  2. I don't think that "torture porn" is really a useful term, but it does get thrown at films which feature explicit and graphic acts of violence. This film qualifies by any measure, which I think is one of the things that differentiates it from LVT's other films. The film it reminds me the most of (although they are of course very different) is "Audition".

    Given that somebody apparently passed out/vomited when I saw this at TIFF, I think describing it as LVT's foray into "torture porn" is fair. I don't myself see that as a denigration of the film, which is easily the best movie I have seen this year.
